Recruitment Marketing and Talent Acquisition Intern
Talent Acquisition, Hong Kong
"To be a successful intern, you should always give more than what's expected. In the end, it all proves how you can bring value
to the company."
Rene was an international student studying in Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, with a double major in Finance and Marketing. She interned in the Client Success Team at Meltwater in 2017, interacting with clients such as Huawei and Swire Properties. This internship has helped her further pursue her passion in Marketing following her work experiences in Bluebell and L'Oréal Group.
I am Rene, a Malaysian student studying in HKUST! I joined Meltwater as a Summer Intern under the Client Success Team, and all I could say was that my internship really did feel like a crazy and fun-filled summer adventure!
Firstly, the fun-loving culture here is one thing that I really love about Meltwater! This culture really distinguishes them from many other companies and I'm so glad that I get to work in such a vibrant place! One good example of this is the Internship Final Presentation. Typically in other companies, it would be a very formal presentation where you have to dress up. Here at Meltwater, we do it in our pyjamas! Others might think that our culture seems too crazy, but I would say that “Nothing is ever too crazy in Meltwater!”
Being part of the Client Success Team was indeed a great learning opportunity for me. It was really inspiring to work closely with a team of enthusiastic, determined and motivated people that are constantly exceeding the limits! I was quite surprised to see that the team was so young yet everyone was so capable! Behind these energetic and driven personalities, there must be a beast living inside them. Seeing how the team smashes targets like a beast all the time, it helped me to discover and unleash my inner beast as well!
I certainly felt like I was able to make a significant impact in Meltwater even though I was only there for 10 weeks.
Lastly, the most important aspect of any internship are the responsibilities and duties given to me. I really appreciate how my effort and ideas are always valued, and the fact that I got to handle client cases directly makes everything more interesting. I certainly felt like I was able to make a significant impact in Meltwater even though I was only there for 10 weeks. We were provided with product knowledge training and skills in the first 2 weeks, and immediately after that we got assigned tasks to deal with real clients! Everything was really overwhelming at first, and I actually felt like I was thrown into the ocean to drown. Nevertheless, this experience left me so grateful for the mentors and peers who never failed to give me guidance and support along the way. Because of them, I am able to survive the pressure and responsibilities that came by my way!
I am truly really thankful for the opportunity to learn and I am grown immensely over my time at Meltwater. It has been an honour for me to be part of the team!
